SafeFuel ("we", "the app") helps people with food allergies track nutrition and plan meals safely. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and what we never do with it.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Account — email address, or an Apple/Google identifier if you use those sign-in options | To create your account and sync your data across devices |
| Health & trigger data — your allergies, intolerances and sensitivities and their severity, symptom check-ins, and optional blood-test (IgE) results you choose to scan | To check foods against your triggers and detect reaction patterns |
| Food & fitness data — meals you log, recipes you save, meal plans, workouts, water intake, body metrics and goals | To calculate your nutrition targets and build your plans |
| Photos you submit — meal photos, nutrition labels, lab results | Sent for analysis to identify foods and read nutrition panels |
| Apple Health — workouts and active energy, only if you connect it | To adjust your daily targets on training days |
| Feedback you send — the message, plus app version and device model; your email only if you ask for a reply | To read it and, if you asked, write back |
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or browsing history.
If you install SafeFuel after seeing one of our ads, we use AppsFlyer, Meta and TikTok measurement tools to learn that the ad worked. This is limited to install and subscription events — never your health, allergy, meal or symptom data, which is never shared with any advertising network.
On iOS you will be asked for permission first. If you decline, no advertising identifier is collected and the app works exactly the same. You can change your answer any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
When you photograph a meal, label, or lab result, the image is sent to our processing service and to Anthropic's Claude API to identify what is in it. Nutrition values are then looked up in the USDA FoodData Central database — the AI does not invent nutrition numbers. Images are processed to produce your result and are not used to train AI models.
Your data is stored in our database hosted by Supabase, protected by row-level security so your records are accessible only to your account. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest by our hosting provider.
We share the minimum necessary with providers that operate the app on our behalf: Supabase (database and authentication), Anthropic (AI analysis of your text and images), USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts and recipe providers (food lookups), Apple and Google (sign-in), and RevenueCat with Apple (subscriptions), and — only if you consent to tracking — Meta and TikTok for advertising measurement. We never sell your data, and your health and allergy information is never shared with advertising networks.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA (California), including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. We honour these requests regardless of your location.
We process your account data to perform our contract with you, and your health and allergy data on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give by entering it into the app. You may withdraw consent by deleting your data or your account.
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our production database within 30 days.
SafeFuel is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date above and notify you in the app.
Questions, or want your data deleted? Email support@schafersites.com, or use Profile → Send feedback in the app.
